HOME CARE SERVICES FOR DEPENDENT PATIENTS IN UKRAINE AND MOLDOVA

AO Homecare started in June 2023 the Project “Increasing Access to Qualitative Home Care Services for Patients Dependent on Others, both in the Republic of Moldova and in Ukraine”, with the support of the CZECH REPUBLIC HUMANITARIAN AID and the Czech Embassy in Chisinau

The project provides training for caregivers in Ukraine in the field of home care to increase the quality of life of people dependent on the care of others.

The project aims to strengthen and develop the capacities of caregivers in Ukraine in providing home-based medico-social care for people in vulnerable situations. The Homecare Public Association will offer comprehensive training, in partnership with a group of trainers specialized in medico-social care at home.

The team of trainers will train more than 100 caregivers from all over Ukraine. The courses will cover a wide range of topics, from principles and values in home care to care techniques for various conditions. The courses will cover various aspects of caregiving, including bathing, communicating with caregivers, feeding the elderly and personal care. Caregivers will receive nutritional recommendations and tips for caring for people with various needs. Carers will also learn about the rights of vulnerable people and the legal framework for providing social care. They will understand and apply the rights and obligations of carers in the context of home care.

In addition to the training of caregivers from Ukraine, the project will provide support for the provision of medico-social services in the Centers Sfânta Agata in Ocnita and Sfânta Anna in Vulcănești. Thus, a significant number of vulnerable people from the Republic of Moldova will have increased access to the respective services.

The project also aims, in addition to the mentioned objectives, to develop expertise in the provision of quality medical and social care, but will also contribute to improving the lives of the most vulnerable people.

At the moment, the Guide on the provision of medico-social services at home is being developed. It will be translated into Ukrainian, then a training will be held in September.

Our team is ready to start this process. We are deeply grateful for the support given by the CZECH REPUBLIC HUMANITARIAN AID and the Czech Embassy in Chisinau in the realization of this project. Together, we will build a brighter and caring future for those who need our support.
